In 2003 a young woman named Kamala Harris ran for District Attorney of San Francisco. She was a huge underdog and up against the the incumbent District Attorney. Kamala initially polled at 6% and was given no chance. She defied the odds to won andbecome the first black female District Attorney of San Francisco.
Kamala was able to win by campaigning on her For the People model. This campaign model emphasizes community organizing, coalition building, diversity, equity & inclusion, voter education and people power.
